BPM has started an induced polarisation geophysical survey to follow up on intriguing polymetallic and gold intersections recorded by previous drilling at its Santy project inland of Geraldton, Western Australia.
It is easy to see why the company is so keen to do so given that the drilling at the IZ5 prospect had returned results such as 1m grading 0.89 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, 90.3 parts per million (ppm) silver, 2.03% copper and 0.19% lead+zinc from 66m (SRC006).
Adding further support, BPM Minerals’ (ASX:BPM) Santy project is located within the Tallering greenstone belt which is considered to be prospective for gold, VHMS base-metal mineralisation, magmatic nickel-copper-PGE’s and Iron Ore
Tallering’s mineral endowment is well-established with the presence of two previously producing mining operations, Mt Gibson Iron’s Tallering Peak iron ore mine and Adaman Resources’ Snake Well gold and base metal project.
Polymetallic potential
The 2.2km long IZ5 prospect is considered to be prospective for gold and VHMS style precious and base metal mineralisation.
This is thanks to the polymetallic composition of the mineralised intercepts noted in previous drilling are thought to be Volcanogenic Hosted Massive Sulphide (VHMS) related.
BPM notes that the IP Survey will seek to identify zones of conductivity which could be indicative of accumulations of sulphides/mineralisation.
Tallering exploration
Over at the company’s Tallering project, which is part of the broader Santy project, soil sampling has identified five gold anomalies with more than 2.5 parts per billion gold, three of which are associated with Banded Iron Formation units.
The soil anomalies will be further investigated as part of the next phase of exploration field work.
