A 12-year-old boy was among a group of armed youths who allegedly tried to carjack a rideshare driver on the Gold Coast.
The driver picked up the boy and three other boys, aged 13, in Currumbin on Tuesday night before driving them to a location about 30 minutes away.

When they arrived, one of the boys allegedly pulled a knife and told the driver to get out, according to police.
However, the driver sped off before stopping a short distance away and the boys ran from the car.
The boys were later detained by police in Palm Beach.
No charges have yet been laid.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, two people are on the run after an alleged carjacking of a rideshare driver in Brisbane on Thursday.
The two males, whose ages are unknown, allegedly threatened the driver with a knife in Sunnybank.
The driver got out of the Kia Cerato before the duo drove off.
Police believe the incident could be linked to an earlier attempted armed robbery, when a man who parked his car outside a convenience store in Sunnybank was approached by two males.
They pulled a knife and demanded his keys and wallet, police say.
He refused and ran away, escaping injury, but later returned to his Mazda CX-5 to find his tyres deflated.
Police continue their search for the two males.
