Come on, share it with the rest of us, through the ‘comments’ section below.
ROSEHILL (Saturday) – Greg Polson
GELATIN – The Michael Freedman-trained Gelatin looks a good thing to win a two-year-old race before the season ends on July 31. A son of Snitzel, Gelatin was the unlucky runner in the opener on Saturday, missing a run twice in the straight before finishing strongly when clear. Not sure where connections go next but confident Gelatin will be winning. Career statistics (2:0-0-1).

FLEMINGTON (Saturday) – Cameron Happ
EXETER – He’s never been an easy horse to catch, and you wouldn’t step into him at short odds but resuming into his second prep for the Gavin Bedggood stable, the rising seven-year-old gelding went as good as he ever has fresh at Flemington on Saturday. He was given a perfect smother by Craig Newitt and just as he was improving into the race, he was held up 300-225m losing all momentum, only hitting top gear at the 100m. He was going better than anything through the line in a race that supplied the meeting best closing splits. Career statistics (40:6-1-5).

IPSWICH (Saturday) – Graeme Carey
DEFIANT SPIRIT – Not much went right for Defiant Spirit in the 2YO Handicap at Ipswich over 1200m on Saturday. He was hampered at the start settling further back than intended and then began to overrace. Six lengths off them at the 800m, he was shuffled back further nearing the home turn and when Ben Thompson shifted him to the outside to make his run had only one behind him. He sprouted wings over the last 100m but the leader Upstart Legend had a break and he failed by a neck. It was only his second start and with a more positive ride on a bigger track will quickly make amends. Career statistics (2:1-1-0).

MURRAY BRIDGE (Saturday) – Heath Pope
SHE’S GREYFUL – Former WA filly that that came to SA with formlines around Amelia’s Jewel. Resumed on Saturday and bumped into what also appears to be another nice type in Bristler. She’s Greyful covered ground throughout, yet still kept hitting the line to only be beaten a half-length. Saturday’s effort was a good platform for the preparation and she’ll be hard to beat in her upcoming runs. Career statistics (10:1-2-0).

BELMONT (Saturday) – Aaron Mills
BITOFMERIT – Sticking with the obvious with this Michael Campbell-trained gelding which can’t have been any more impressive in the final race on Saturday. Ridden stone cold at the tail from a wide gate in a big field, Bitofmerit had a stack of work to do upon straightening but roared home in meeting-best closing splits to arrive late for a remarkable victory. The trainer explained Bitofmerit had to overcome a virus when last in work and if this is now the sort of form he carries forward into his preparation there should be plenty more wins in store. Career statistics (9:5-3-0).
