Inspired by the Fridays for Future student-led protests of 2019, this tale of two heroes straddles the realms of fantasy and reality. Maddy is a ten-year-old climate champion and Katie is the apathetic assistant of a climate-denying politician. Together, these unlikely heroes will embark on journeys in their respective domains to bring about change for the better.
Encouraged by her father to partake in a school climate strike, Maddy’s narrative snowballs. Finding herself at loggerheads with the powers that be, she and her father face challenging decisions. Meanwhile, Katie, once consumed by her job and feeling disempowered, transcends reality to embark on a mystical quest, riding on the backs of eagles and dolphins along the way. Whilst they may not know one another, Katie and Maddy’s venture of self-discovery paves the way for seismic change.
Throughout the play, viewers will be captivated by stunning video and projection making this theatrical experience truly unforgettable. Incredible life-size puppetry will also be featured in the show, bringing the narrative well and truly to life, opening the viewers’ minds to the possibility of a brighter, better future.
