Detectives from the Far North Police District are calling for public assistance after the arrest of three British Nationals, who are alleged to have been part of a sophisticated crime syndicate operating up and down the eastern board for several years.
Investigations reveal the criminal syndicate, comprised of Irish/English nationals, approach households and businesses, offering cheap bitumen surfacing.
The work performed by these men is substandard and the materials used are of a poor quality.
A 42-year-old England man fwas charged with two counts of fraud, one count of attempted fraud, and one count of disobey of lawful order.
An 18-year-old England man was charged with two counts of fraud, one count of attempted fraud, and one count of disobey of lawful order.
Both men are set to appear before the Cairns Magistrates Court on June 7.
A 16-year-old England boy was charged with two counts of fraud and one count of attempted fraud.
He is set to appear before the Carin’s Childrens Court.
Detectives would like to speak to anyone who has been approached by or had any dealings with people offering to supply bitumen in the North, Western and Far Northern area.
