Two downtown Binghamton businesses have been ordered by state regulators to stop making illicit cannabis available to their customers.
New York state officials have been promising to crack down on unlicensed marijuana sales which have adversely affected legal shops.

Enforcement teams from the Office of Cannabis Management and the Department of Taxation and Financed inspected the Binghamton stores. They are located within three blocks of each other.
Warning signs have been posted at Takeoff 2 at 63 Chenango Street and Green Magic at 144 Henry Street.

The signs read “Illicit Cannabis Seized” in bright red lettering. They indicate the businesses were “ordered to stop illegal activity.”
The state’s announcement of the action against the businesses did not specify what agents seized or how many other shops had been targeted.
Both stores remain open. A woman at the Takeoff 2 shop took photographs of a reporter who visited the store and then locked the door to prevent entry.
Employees of the Green Magic Smoke Boutique chatted with a reporter but wouldn’t answer questions about the business.
Broome County’s only licensed recreational cannabis dispensary is on Court Street in Binghamton opened in February. Another licensed shop is to open on Main Street in Johnson City on June 28.
