The Aussie sisters behind a sellout shoe range loved by celebrities around the world have launched a new collection with the First Nations artist Glenda McCulloch.
This comes after their first collection, featuring Indigenous Cungelella Art, sold out in just two hours.
Jess and Stef Dadon launched Twoobs as a vegan footwear brand in 2016 when vegan footwear “was not a thing”.

Since then, they have continued to expand and develop their eco shoe credentials, creating long-lasting, environmentally friendly sandals, boots and platform shoes that can be bought once and worn for a lifetime.
“The COVID pandemic in particular really brought home to us the depth and extent of the climate crisis,” Jess tells 7Life.
“There was an 18-month period when we were really concerned, and we weren’t sure how we could pair our thinking with what we were doing in the fashion industry.”
Jess and Stef “wrestled with this push and pull” for a while, before in 2020 they “completely upended what we were doing”, quit working with some partners and changed their shoes.
“To go on this environmental journey, there were things that needed to be addressed,” Stef tells 7Life.
“When we re-launched, we were really nervous as we had no idea how people would react.
“But the reception was incredible, and it turns out people do want to do better for the environment while still having cool clothes.”
Twoobs shoes are now built to be even more long lasting, with rubber on the bottom so they can be re-soled time and again.
They also use a host of recycled and natural materials, including sugarcane, all of which are designed with performance, the environment and comfort in mind.
“Our material profile is something we will continue to update as well, as new materials come out,” Stef says.
“It’s so important to us to do better to your feet and better to the planet.”
Reviews online for the shoes are glowing, with people describing them as like “cloud walking” and “super comfy”.
For the latest collection, Twoobs has again partnered with contemporary Indigenous Artist Collective Cungelella Art on a limited edition six-piece collection.
Each pair of shoes in the line has been designed by talented artist Glenda McCulloch, a proud descendant of the Kalkadoon Tribe of the Mount Isa region and the founder of Cungelella Art.
The curated collection features six different pairs of sandals, including one for children.
All are made from vegan and planet-friendly materials including recycled lycra and sugarcane.
They fuse Glenda McCullogh’s bright and poppy contemporary Indigenous art with three classic Twoobs silhouettes.
According to Glenda, everything is inspired by “the rock faces, the red rust dirt and the harsh spinifex growing wild, and of course the soft pink sunsets”.
“Glenda actually reached out to us on Instagram saying I make this art and I think it would look really amazing on our shoes,” Jess says.
“We’re buckling up again for this collection to sell really quickly, after it was chaos the first time round when it sold out in just two hours.”
To further their eco credentials, Jess and Stef say each purchase will also be made carbon neutral and shipped satchel free, in line with Twoobs’ commitment to the environment.
Some $5 from every pair sold will be donated to Injilinji Preschool & Kindergarten in Mount Isa, a local kindergarten selected by Cungelella Art.
It is a non-profit Aboriginal organisation that was opened in the 1970s by three local Aboriginal women, and is the only Aboriginal kindergarten in the town still running today.
This was chosen by Glenda McCulloch.
“We love being a small brand and getting to work really closely to the artist and give back to something they care about,” Stef says.
“We understand environmentally-focused footwear in a really strong way now.”
She adds: “We want to build out the footwear range in a way to replace the requirement of having other shoe brands.
“We’re telling fast fashion to take a hike, one exceptionally cute pair of shoes at a time.”
The collection is available exclusively at twoobs.com from 1pm AEST Friday June 16, 2023.
