ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men’s and women’s track and field team heads to Susquehanna University for the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Championships beginning on Wednesday, May 17. The Lions qualified to compete in 15 events combined between the men’s and women’s side.
Women’s News and Notes
* Savanna Carr (Franklin, PA/Franklin) will compete in the 1500m and the 3000m steeplechase
* Alongside Carr, Olivia Nola (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) will also compete in the 1500m run
* Nola, Carr, Ivy Laffan (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf), Emily Ferrans (Bradfordwoods, PA/North Allegheny), and Lindsey Hartle (Pittsburgh, PA/Avonworth)) will be combined to make up the 4×800 relay
* Laffan is also added to the field of athletes for the 400m event
* In the field events, Madison Kappeler (Cecil, PA/Canon-McMillan) will represent the Lions in the pole vault
Men’s News and Notes:
* Representing Behrend in the 800m run is Kody Klein (North East, PA/Cathedral Prep) and Jason Seevers (North East, PA/North East)
* Seevers and Klein are a possible two out of four runners for the 4x800m relay along with Nick Temel (Conneaut Lake, PA/Conneaut), Aidan Reinsel (North East, PA/North East) and Aidan Domencic (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley)
* Domencic is also competing in the 3,000m steeplechase, while Temel qualified for the 1500m
* In the 110m hurdles, Anand Bhambhwani (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) and Blake Burns (Jefferson, OH/Jefferson) are the top two competitors for the Lions
* Bhambwhani also qualified for the high jump along with Samuel Hetrick (New Bethlehem, PA/Redbank Valley)
* The pole vault will be represented by Islam Daghestani (Meadville, PA/Meadville Area) and Ryan Festa (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham)
* The remaining athletes will compete in the following field events: Alex Cotton (Saxonburg, PA/Knoch) in the shot put, Dan Dabrowski (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek) in the discus and Matthew Laslavic (Evans City, PA/Seneca Valley) in the javelin
