The Beef are unbeatable it seems in the battle of local supremacy.
The team from the Rockhampton region, made up of players from the Rockhampton Brothers, Fitzroy-Gracemere Sharks and the Norths Chargers were just too good for the Reef side in the annual Reef v Beef matchup.
The coastal team, brought together from the Yeppoon Seagulls, Emu Park Emus and Biloela Panthers, hosted the match on a picture-perfect afternoon at Emu Park.
But despite their best efforts to defend their home waters, the Beef made the Hartley Street Sporting Complex their own patch with a 36-16 win.
Doubles from the electric Connor Rothery and the strong Luke Mitchell-Lawton combined with single tries from Jaiden Mann, Joshua Grange and Kazzie Doyle, would be enough for the Beef to seal their third straight title in as many years.
For the women’s match, which was a classic, it was the Reef who took out the win.
The home side would come out 16-6 victors with Tylah Phillips scoring two and Sarah Field earning one.
And finally the Beef under-19s would finish victorious, defeating the Reef 24-20 in a blockbuster at Emu Park.
Lock Iziah Broome was a standout for the Beef after he scored two tries in the team’s close win.
