After picking up just their second competition point of the season, the Berserker Bears are hunting their first win.
Since returning to the FQPL-3, the Bears have looked solid but have been unable to crack their duck egg this season.
Their form is looking up however especially after grasping a draw from the clutches of defeat last time out.
The Berserker side were down 2-0 to Southside United on Saturday with Blake Penfold and Nicholas Kirkpatrick both scoring either side of half time.
Looking helpless to suffer another defeat, Gail Tucker put the ball in the back of the net to reduce the deficit to just one goal.
And soon that arrears would be completely wiped when Ethan Keily scored for the Bears, forcing their way back into the contest.
Despite both teams having genuine winning chances the match would end at 2-2 with Berserker picking up an all important point.
This week however they face another local rival when they travel to Pilbeam Park to take on the Nerimbera Magpies.
The Magpies, spearheaded by Samual Skinner’s brace, were too classy for the Capricorn Coast Eagles last time out.
Nerimbera would win 4-1, a victory that would help push them comfortably away from the mid-table pack.
With another win in their sights, the Magpies will have to contend with the Bears who always present an awkward challenge.
In other matches this weekend the Frenchville Roos welcome the Parkana Football Club to Ryan Park.
The Roos cruised to an 11-0 win over Bluebirds United on the weekend and will be planning on keeping their undefeated rub rolling.
There’s a distinct dislike between the two squads which will see Parkana fired up in an attempt to knock off the current league leaders.
Across in Gladstone, Central FC return to competition when they host the Capricorn Coast Eagles.
With Nerimbera in good form Central will need to knock off the Eagles to help them stick right to the Magpies on the table.
And finally Bluebirds United take on Clinton FC in the final match of the round.
In the women’s FQPL Clinton FC and the Nerimbera Magpies is the match of the round on paper.
The two clubs have found their footing in the competition and now will collide in a heavyweight clash.
At Pilbeam Park, Bluebirds United take on Cap Coast in what will be a good showing of our region’s local players.
And finally Frenchville FC take on Central FC in the last match of the round.
