Campsites for the 60th anniversary edition of the Repco Bathurst 1000 have been snatched up in record time this morning.
Racing fans from across Australia and New Zealand eagerly snatched up hundreds of sites in just 90 minutes, after they went on sale at 10am.
With renewals and sales now completed, more than 7000 campsites are to be filled for this year’s event at Mount Panorama, that runs from 5-8 October.
Due to the incredible demand, Supercars in conjunction with Bathurst Regional Council have begun the process of investigating the addition for more grounds to house extra campsites for this year’s event, with further information to be released in coming weeks.
This year’s Great Race has already generated immense excitement among fans as it couples as both the 60th anniversary celebration of the Bathurst 1000 and the first ever for the Gen3 Chevrolet Camaro vs the Ford Mustang.
Supercars CEO Shane Howard said of this morning’s sell out: “We anticipated a high level of demand for campsites, but the speed at which they sold out has surpassed all expectations. It’s a testament to the passion and loyalty of our fans.
“We will meet with Council next week to investigate additional camping options to accommodate the overwhelming demand.
“We encourage fans who missed out this morning to add their name to our newly created waitlist which has been set up today, with information to go out soon regarding the potential dates for new sites to go on sale.”
Fans will soon be able to add their name to the official waitlist from the Bathurst Camping page on Supercars.com.
Ticketing options including reserved grandstand seating, general admission, priority parking and paddock passes are all available through Ticketek.
A campsite ticket does not include access to the 2023 Repco Bathurst 1000. Admission tickets to the event must be purchased in addition to campsite tickets.
The Repco Bathurst 1000 is proudly supported by the NSW Government through its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.
The 2023 Repco Supercars Championship will resume at the NED Whisky Tasmania SuperSprint this weekend.
Supercars will hit the track for the first time on Saturday for Practice 1 at 9:00am local time.
Tickets for the event are on sale on Supercars.com and Ticketek.com.
