A psychedelic, neon-lit pop-up bar inspired by a Bob Dylan song, with mulled wine, Archie Rose Negronis, truffle cheese toasties and more. Plus, Butter brings its fried-chicken ramen to the Opera House.
With the lighting of the sails always a Vivid centrepiece event and contemporary music series Vivid Live taking place in the Opera House, you don’t need more reasons to visit the iconic building during the arts and lights festival. But you’re getting another one anyway – two more, in fact.
The Concert Hall, Northern foyer is transforming into a plush bar and lounge throughout the duration of Vivid, thanks to Newtown bar The Midnight Special. Inspired by Bob Dylan’s Subterranean Homesick Blues, the psychedelic Bar Subterranean is a new spot for dining and drinking between other events.
Visit before taking off on the 8.5-kilometre light trail, or kick on after catching a Vivid Live concert. There’ll be mulled wine, Red Centre Negronis and Rosella Sours care of Archie Rose, plus truffle cheese toasties and fennel pork sausage rolls on the food menu.
Also popping up at the Opera House is Neon Ramen, a collaboration between Butter and Archie Rose in the Yallamundi Rooms. Warm up with cult fried-chicken ramen and cocktails like the Espresso Martinique, Eucalypt Mule and Seaside Spritz. The menu also includes burgers (including a vegetarian version), chicken tenders coated in an Archie Rose glaze and hot cinnamon doughnuts, plus GH Mumm champagne.
Cheers to that.
