The Department of Education has responded to a shocking video of a young boy being assaulted by three other boys.
The assault is understood to have happened in Toowoomba, with the footage posted to a local crime social media page.
The one minute long video shows the boy getting slapped before he was shoved into a wall and kicked and punched several times by the others.
It goes on to show the boy being pulled by his hair to kiss the shoes of his attackers.
One of the attackers can be heard saying, “kiss them, kiss them, kiss them boy”.
“You’re a mad c–t aye,” he goes on to say.
A Department of Education spokesman said in a statement that all Queensland state schools held the safety of students and staff as their highest priority.
“The department is aware of an incident filmed on the weekend (which) showed young people engaged in bullying,” the spokesman said.
“As the incident occurred outside school grounds on the weekend, the issue is best managed by the Queensland Police Service and enquiries should be directed towards them.”
The spokesman said while the incident would be reviewed in line with the school’s Student Code of Conduct policy, not all people in the video could be identified.
“No further details including disciplinary actions can be provided due to student privacy
reasons,” he said.
“Guidance officer support is available at the school for any students who may require it.”
A Queensland Police spokesperson said officers were aware of the incident and detectives from Toowoomba Child Protection and Investigation Unit were investigating.
