The judges said Lucky Bay won thanks not only to the “friendly kangaroos” but also it has “some of the most pristine snow-white sand and incredible turquoise water you will ever see”.
A beach in Western Australia often inhabited by kangaroos has been named the world’s best in a poll of more than 750 travel influencers, journalists and experts.
Lucky Bay is situated in the south of the massive state near Esperance.
The judges said the beach won thanks not only to the “friendly kangaroos” but also it has “some of the most pristine snow-white sand and incredible turquoise water you will ever see”.
“Stretching over 5km guarantees you’ll find a spot less crowded to simply take in all the natural beauty.”
It is one of four Aussie beaches in the top 50, with Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsundays (4th), and two more in Western Australia, Turquoise Bay (17th) and Little Hellfire Bay (28th).
In the top 10 also is One Foot Island on the Cook Islands for its “blindingly white sand, swaying palm trees, and inviting water, this location is breathtaking”.
One New Zealand beach sneaks into the top 50 in 49th place – Piha.
The judges described it has being “renowned for its superb surf” and the “iconic” Lion Rock.
“With its stunning scenery and adventurous spirit, this beach undoubtedly deserves a place on our Top 50 list!”
There is a warning though that “the waves can be quite wild”.
