Audlem remain clear at the top of NSSCL Division Seven thanks to a five-wicket win at Newcastle & Hartshill thirds.
The table-toppers secured a seventh league success of the summer, but were given a decent test by Castle.
Todd Talbot’s 55 not out, which contained nine fours and one six, David Abel’s 44, Raghav Matsa’s 33 and 29 from Peter Leighton, helped Newcastle & Hartshill to 180-6 from their 40 overs. Simon Swift took a couple of wickets.
Audlem maintained their impressive start to the season as they crossed the line in the 34th over of their run chase.
Chris Shenton led with the way with 54, which included six fours and two sixes, backed up by Dan Butler’s unbeaten 48 and 27 from Richard Wilson.
Lee Slaymaker took two of the wickets to fall for Castle.
Cheadle thirds are seven points off the top in second place following their victory at their Nantwich counterparts.
Cheadle made excellent progress to 199-7 from their allocation in the early stages of the contest.
Harry Degg led the run-scoring with 80 not out, hitting 11 fours, backed up by Archie Pyatt (43) and Joshua Jackson (32). Alan Chesters, Matt Holding and Jacob Hall shared six of the wickets to fall.
Robert Howell (45) and James Michell (34) impressed for the Dabbers after tea, but Jonathan Clowes’ 3-30 limited Nantwich to 132-6.
Moddershall & Oulton sixths piled on the runs on their trip to Woore seconds.
Mohammed Younis (67) and Saleem Mir (60) both hit half-centuries as the Modd men amassed 274-8.
Waqar Shabbir (44), Omar Arbab (27) and Nandu Nair (21) lent valuable support. Andrew Burton picked up 3-41.
In reply, Lauren Kenvyn top-scored with 35, backed up by Martin Harper (29), Burton (28) and Daniel Manning (23), but their efforts were not enough.
Woore were dismissed for 184 as Younis captured 4-8 and there were a couple of wickets apiece from Omar Hussain and Nair.
Wood Lane seconds won by four wickets at home against Endon 2nd XI.
Phil Reynolds (28) and Lewis Hamnett (22) were in good nick as Endon reached 137-7 from their 40 overs. James Bell and Ollie Challinor both took two wickets.
Peter Slinn replied with 3-19 and Chris Reed struck twice, but Wood Lane managed to find their way to the target.
Ben Forster (26), Ash Porter (24) and Bell (21no) were the main men with the bat for the victors.
Onneley seconds had a fine day on the road as they returned from Sandbach with the points.
Muhammad Rizwan’s 59, featuring eight fours and one six, plus 29 from James Johnson, led Sandbach to 148-7.
Cam Donald (4-18) starred with the ball on the resumption, but Onneley were not to be denied as they banked a four-wicket triumph thanks to Ash Hall (44), Tom Johnson (32), Sajid Hussain (24) and Geoff Hall (22).
Rode Park & Lawton seconds are 18 points better off after wining at Audley thirds.
Joseph Smith hit 13 fours in his 71 to form the backbone of Audley’s 159 all out. Richard Beckett made 33, while Jim Johnson snared 5-15 for Rode Park & Lawton.
There were two wickets apiece from Beckett and Muhammad Ismail in reply, but Rode Park & Lawton sealed an impressive four-wicket win with more than seven overs of their allocation to spare. Neil Cheadle’s unbeaten 53 led his side to the spoils, aided by Dan Forster’s fine 32 and Alistair Currie’s 23.
