Today (Friday 26 May) is your last chance to get your nominations in for season three of the Bendigo Bank Big Bash and it’s looking like being a very high quality competition with a huge number of nominations already received at time of print.
Players from as far and wide as Brisbane, Toowoomba, Sunshine Coast, Kingaroy, Hervey Bay and Bundaberg have already thrown their hat in the ring as well as a host of home-grown Gympie legends.
The auction night will be held next Friday, 2 June, at the Gympie Hockey Club and is shaping up to be a very interesting night with several changes made this year that will keep all the team managers on their toes.
The franchise owners and managers will have $20,000 monopoly money each to spend on their entire squad.
Player squads will be reduced to 13 players this year meaning less players will be rested.
Captains will be selected and announced prior to the auction.
One local young gun is required per side (born 2005 -2008).
There will be no retained players this year will all players being up for grabs in the auction, however franchises will have three “right to match” cards available to them on auction night to use on any players from their season three squad whilst the new teams can use them on anyone.
The T10 Junior smash will also be expanding to five teams this year and will open up to an even wider age group of 12 to 16 year olds.
There is a promise of even more exciting developments to come, so stay tuned.
