Finally, after an absence of three years, we are back on our feet. Covid and the 2022 Lismore flood couldn’t keep a good eisteddfod down – we lost everything in the Lismore flood, 114 years of written history and irreplaceable memorabilia. Fortunately, through a flood relief grant we were reimbursed for equipment that had to be repaired or replaced.
Our regular competition venues were severely damaged in the 2022 flood and we have been forced to look elsewhere this year. The Civic Hall in Casino will be used for the Schools Competitions as no large venue is available in Lismore this year.
It takes a lot of money to hold an eisteddfod. The fact that we can actually hold the 2023 Lismore Eisteddfod is due, in no small part, to our patron, Margot Davies.
Margot approached us last year, offering her assistance to get the Lismore Eisteddfod up and running again.
SPONSORS AND VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We would love to hear from any potential sponsors – be it monetary or offering awards, and from volunteers to assist at competition venues.
CALLING ALL COMPETITORS
Is your talent in song or dramatic performances? Perhaps you play the piano, or one of the string, woodwind or brass instruments? Does your performance joy come through dance – or the fun and excitement of primary and secondary school performances?
The Lismore Eisteddfod is your opportunity to step out onto a stage and showcase your talent. Performing gives you the opportunity to watch and learn from your peer group. You also have your work appraised by highly qualified adjudicators, which amounts to receiving lessons from another teacher.
Information on how to enter, and competition schedules are available on our website: lismoreeisteddfod.com.au, or call our secretary for further information on 0427 404 383.
