The Faculty of Health is seeking to appoint an Associate Research Fellow to support the Food and Mood Centre in conducting the HARMON-E Trial. The HARMON-E Trial is one of the four signature trials supported by a 2020 MRFF Million Minds Mission MHR grant (Mental Health Australia General Clinical Trial Network – MAGNET: GNT2006296). The Associate Research Fellow will support trial operations by undertaking research activities throughout each phase of the study and work closely with the trials Clinical Trial Coordinators and other project staff members.
This is a fixed-term full-time position based at the Food & Mood Centre, IMPACT in the Health and Education Research Building (HERB), University Hospital Geelong.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing support to senior research colleagues to conduct research on a clinical trial focusing on lifestyle psychiatry
- Contributing to all facets of trial activity where needed, including trial development, data collection, data management, recruitment, participant contact and scheduling
- Undertaking Clinical Interviews that involve administering the Structured Clinical Interview (SCID) and Montgomery-Asberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS), as well as undertaking Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviews with participants
- Engaging collaboratively to participate in novel and high-quality research activities
- Begin building body of work and reputation and recognition for quality, excellence and impact
- Participating in intra- and inter-disciplinary research collaborations
- Communicating outputs, including as part of team
- Ensuring impact of academic activity on the field and the community
- Developing working relationship with mentors and supervisors
- Developing early career research plan with guidance from mentors and supervisors
- Building awareness of relevant industry partners and opportunities for HDRs/ECRs placements
Key selection criteria for this role:
- Minimum Psychology Honours or equivalent professional experience (e.g. mental health nurse)
- Ability to make a contribution to communities through research
- Capacity to contribute to teaching, research and administration
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues
- Ability to make a contribution to community engagement for research
- Experience working in research and/or clinical trials *Desirable
