In week nine of Caithness Cycling Club’s regular 10-mile time trials, Wick visitor Stuart Anderson was on top form for an 11-second win over Andrew MacLeod.
Anderson’s team-mates Alun Arnold and Hamish McAllan put in strong performances to fill the next two places.
On a cool evening, a strong headwind on the predominantly uphill outward leg did not make for fast times but Phil Cartwright and Iain Miller did well to take 24 and 20 seconds respectively off their best times this season and climb up the season-long Handicap League table. This is still led by Gary Angus but several riders are now within striking distance.
Results: 1 Stuart Anderson, 22 min 02 sec; 2 Andrew MacLeod, 22.13; 3 Alun Arnold, 23.24; 4 Hamish McAllan, 24.33; 5 Iain Miller, 25.41; 6 Angus MacKay, 27.57; 7 Phil Cartwright, 28.50; 8 Alasdair Washington, 29.05; 9 Roger Broughton, 29.06.
