City of St. Catharines pools are getting ready to open for the summer season on June 30, with maintenance and program registration beginning the week of June 12.
The pools at the St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre (SKAC) will close for a period of just over two weeks on June 12 for annual scheduled maintenance, such as draining and cleaning both pools, any necessary re-grouting, and deep cleaning.
No leisure swims or aquatics programs are scheduled during the closure and the pools will be unavailable for rentals. The St. Catharines Public Library’s Dr. Huq Family Library Branch, guest services counter and program rooms will remain open during pool maintenance with the exception of June 13 when the Dr. Huq Family Branch will be closed for the day.
The pools at the SKAC will reopen just as local schools are winding down with a professional development day on June 30. The City’s outdoor pools will open for the season on the same day – Lincoln Park Pool will open at 11 a.m., Lion Dunc Schooley Pool and Port Dalhousie Pool will open at 1 p.m.
Swimming lessons at indoor and outdoor City pools begin on July 2. Registration for residents opens online at stcatharines.ca/ActiveSTC on June 13 at 6 p.m. followed by in-person registration at the SKAC starting on June 14 at 8:30 a.m. Registration for everyone opens online on June 15 at 6 p.m. and in-person at the SKAC on June 16 at 8:30 a.m.
Looking to beat the heat while waiting for the pools to open? The City’s inclusive splash pads at Bogart Street Park, Lester B. Pearson Park, Catherine Street Park and West Park are open for the season. Splash pads are open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is free.
