Premier Racing at The Meadows this evening is highlighted by a 525-metre Free For All featuring Group 1 Golden Easter Egg (520m) finalist Elite Alex.
The Mark Delbridge-trained chaser scorched around The Meadows in a 525-metre Free For All on April 29 in 29.73 seconds and he has a strike rate of 13 wins and 10 minor placings from 30 starts.
Despite the scratching of Group 1 placegetter El Dorado, last year’s Group 2 Launceston Cup (515m) winner Hill Top Jack will provide tough opposition.
The David Geall-prepared greyhound prevailed for the 31st time from 108 starts at The Meadows last Saturday night.
Expert form analyst The Watchdog tipped Elite Alex to prevail in Race 8 at 8:47pm even before the omission of El Dorado.
ELITE ALEX (1) OUTCLASSED HIS RIVALS AT THE MEADOWS ON APRIL 29:
“Elite Alex is a top sprinter and he will take a power of beating with a timely start.”
Group 1 Melbourne Cup (515m) champion Yachi Bale is aiming to win for the first time from six attempts over the 600-metre trip at The Meadows in Race 4 at 7:24pm.
Bendigo Gold Rush Maiden (425m) winner Alpha Zulu triumphed by seven lengths in his first run at The Meadows on May 10 and he is expected to record his fifth win from seven starts in Race 5 at 7:49pm.
ALPHA ZULU (2) DISPLAYED HIS STAR POTENTIAL AT THE MEADOWS ON MAY 10:
Litter brothers and Group 2 Ballarat Cup (450m) finalists Shima Shadow and Shima Dream are both in action at The Meadows as well.
Shima Shadow – victorious in five of his nine starts – and Transponder – victorious in his last three races – clash in Race 2 at 6:44pm.
Shima Dream – a five-time winner from 10 starts – and Hot Scotch – a Group 3 finalist and winner of 13 races from 30 starts – line-up in Race 7 at 8:26pm.
“I do have a big opinion of them. I’m looking forward to seeing where they are in six months,” breeder David Gleeson advised GRV’s Gerard Guthrie.
