Albany police and the mayor are on the hunt for those responsible for a series of shootings in the city of Albany.
“To those involved in these horrific acts, be aware – you have our full attention, and we are coming for you,” Albany Police Chief Eric Hawkins said.
There were five shootings in a span of 48 hours over the weekend. Ten people were hurt – including two children and one man was killed.
There was no one is in custody as of Monday afternoon, police said.
The department does not believe these shootings are connected.
Investigators are looking into some promising leads, Hawkins said.
All three officials at the press conference – Hawkins, Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan and Albany County District Attorney David Soares – acknowledged the fact the warmer weather and summer months bring recycled violence.
The string of shootings began Saturday morning just after midnight, with a shooting on Pearl Street.
Then, someone opened fire around 2:45 Saturday afternoon at the Village Barber and Beauty on Second Avenue, killing 47-year-old Stanley Tyrone, and hitting a 9-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man.
At 10:30 that night – two other people were shot – including a 7-year-old kid at the intersection of Second and Ontario streets.
Eighty minutes later – at 11:50 Saturday night – two more people were shot at First and North Swan Streets.
Then at 12:30 Monday morning, one person was shot in the area of Trinity and Madison.
Mayor Kathy Sheehan also revealed she called police after one of the shootings, when she heard gunfire from her living room.
