Three separate Albany area shootings in one day have left one man dead and injured two children among several other victims.
On the afternoon of Saturday, May 14, a gunman fired into a barbershop in Albany’s South End, according to the Times Union.
Police said they responded to the call at 2:45 p.m. and found three victims inside of Village Barber and Beauty with gunshot wounds when they arrived on scene. Bullet holes were visible in the barbershop window, News Channel 13 reported.
Tyrone Staley, a 47-year-old barber, was fatally wounded in the shooting.
The incident injured two more victims, a 19-year-old man who was shot in the foot and a 9-year-old boy who was grazed by a bullet. They were both treated at Albany Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.
Hours later, a second shooting occurred near the intersection of Second and Ontario Streets.
Times Union reported that a suspect fired into a crowd that was gathered around 10:30 p.m. Bullets struck a 7-year-old boy in the hand and a 37-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds to the back. Both injuries were considered not life-threatening.
Shortly after, police were dispatched again at 11:50 p.m. to investigate reports of shots fired. Police determined the gunfire happened near First and North Swan streets.
Times Union reported that around the same time, two men in their 30s arrived at Albany Medical Center where they were treated for gunshot wounds in the First and North Swan street shooting.
One man was shot in the leg, the other was shot in the torso, but neither injury was considered life-threatening.
