Saudi club al ahli Jeddah has been linked with a move for Al ahly goalkeeper and captain Mohamed El-Shennawy following their promotion to the Pro League.
Al Ahli Jeddah, led by South African coach pitso mosimane, have been promoted to the Saudi Pro League at the first time of asking, having been relegated by the end of last season.
Despite several reports suggesting that the club are set to sack Mosimane, it looks like the South African is keen on working again on El-Shennawy in Saudi Arabia.
This is according to Saudi news outlet So3ody, which revealed that the club is keen on replacing Mohammed Al-Rubaie with a foreign goalkeeper.
Last season, El-Shennawy was reportedly set to join Saudi Arabian giants Al Nassr, but Al Ahly refused to let go of their goalkeeper despite the lucrative offer.
A product of the Al Ahly youth sector, El-Shennawy had spells with El-Gaish, Harras El-Hodood, and Petrojet, before rejoining the Reds in July 2016.
Since his return, El-Shennawy has established himself as the Red Devils’ first-choice goalkeeper, becoming an integral part of Al Ahly’s domestic, continental, and international successes over the recent period.
Al Ahly is now preparing to face Esperance de Tunis in the second leg of the CAF champions league at Cairo Stadium after beating the Tunisian team 3-0 in the first leg in Rades.
