Al ahly Basketball superstar Ehab Amin has reflected on winning the Egyptian Super League title and the reason behind the Percy Tau celebration.
Al Ahly have been crowned Egyptian Basketball Super League for the second successive year after defeating Ittihad of Alexandria 72-70 in game four this Monday.
As expected, Ehab Amin was named the playoff final’s MVP by the Egyptian Basketball Federation following a stellar performance.
While going to lift the title, the Al Ahly players were seen celebrating in the famous way south africa’s Percy Tau dances after scoring for the football team.
Speaking on his achievements, Amin said: “The Super League is a very important title for us, and winning it for the second year in a row is difficult and even more difficult than last season.
“We replicated Percy Tau’s celebration as we were watching the Al Ahly match against Espérance together.
“Ahmed Al-Garhi [club coach] told Seif Samir to celebrate in that way, especially with the level that Tau is currently presenting,” Amin added.
Al Ahly put one foot and a half in their fourth successive CAF Champions League final after beating Esperance de Tunis 3-0 in the first leg at Rades Stadium.
Percy Tau gave Al Ahly the lead after just eight minutes, before the same player doubled the Reds’ lead in the 55th minute, scoring a Champions League semi-final brace for a second consecutive year.
Tau has seen a great increase in playing time under manager Marcel Koller, who appears to be fully trusting the South African forward.
This season, Tau has made 28 appearances for Al Ahly, scoring seven goals and providing four assists as he helped the Reds two Super Cups and one Egypt Cup.
