Al Ahly head coach Marcel Koller has addressed the impressive form of Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau in recent weeks.
Tau netted a brace in their 3-0 thumping over Esperance in their first leg CAF Champions League semi-final in Tunis last week.
The result put the record 10-time champions on the brink of a sixth final in the last seven seasons where they will meet the winners between Wydad Athletic Club and Mamelodi Sundowns.
But the turnaround from being highly criticsed in local media and reportedly on the brink of leaving towards being their attacking talisman this season has got tongues wagging in Egypt.
“Percy Tau is a distinguished player but he suffered an injury before he ran the correct program [with us],” Koller said when asked how he’s managed to perform at this level.
“But now, we got him back at the right time in his best condition, and everyone [in the team] helps him to show his best abilities
“All of this is done by the coaching staff, and the players also around him in their best form allows him to shine.”
Tau has scored four goals and registered as many assists in nine games in Africa’s elite club competition this season.
