Western Sydney Wanderers FC have confirmed that Liberty A-League young gun Ella Abdul-Massih has signed a one-year scholarship extension that will see her at the club until the end of the 2024/25 season.
The 17-year-old will be looking to build on her nine performances so far in the domestic competition with the Wanderers over the next two seasons.
A national team regular, Abdul Massih was part of the CommBank Junior Matildas side that won the AFF U18 Womens Championship.
Abdul Massih said she was excited to continue on her journey with the Wanderers.
“I’m super excited to watch myself develop and to see what this upcoming season holds for the club. We’re looking to go further next season and win,” said Abdul Massih.
“It’s been an amazing experience so far. I’ve got my first starts this season, it was cool to get a taste of that and to try and be a consistent starter is a goal of mine. The girls in the squad have been amazing and it’s made it so much easier.
“I’d like to win since we have everything here to be the best club in the league. We have the best facilities, and my individual goal is to be more fitter and be a consistent starter. Overall, I’d really like to get into the Young Matildas set-up more often.”
Head coach Kat Smith praised Ella’s versatility and desire.
“Already a junior national representative, Ella has bountiful talent,” said Smith.
“In transitioning to professional football at such a young age, we can already see the desirable attributes shine through, such as her technical abilities with the ball and her endeavour and awareness without the ball, especially when defending in isolation.
“Ella’s versatility is a luxury with a wide range of technical/tactical abilities where she can be employed with both attacking and defensive principles in mind.”
