PURCHASE – The Mount Saint Mary College Softball team saw its season come to an end Friday afternoon following a 4-0 loss to Manhattanville in an Elimination Game of the 2023 Skyline Conference Championship. Four different Knights finished with a hit and freshman Grace MacDonald struck out five in the circle.
Friday’s loss finishes the Mount’s season at 21-19 while Manhattanville improves to 36-5.
Manhattanville broke a scoreless tie in the top of the third inning with it’s first run of the contest.
Sarah Harker and Amaya Esparza singled for the Valiants to put runners on the corners with one out in the inning. Samantha Walsh followed with an infield single to push Harker home for a 1-0 advantage.
The Valiants added a run in the fifth and doubled its lead to the final 4-0 decision with the final two runs of the game in the seventh.
Sydni Brooks provided a run scoring single in the fifth before lacing a run scoring double in the two-run seventh, driving in the Valiants’ final run of the game.
Samantha Bendig finished the contest 1-for-3 with a double.
Jenna Cedeno, Riley Norwood and Kaeli McAnally all singled for the Mount.
MacDonald pitched well in suffering the loss, working her 11th complete game of the season. MacDonald allowed three earned runs on nine hits while striking out five Valiants.

Harker closed the win 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Brooks finished 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI.
Juliana Parkes went 2-for-4 with a double.
Walsh posted a hit, scored a run and drove in two.
Emily Mottoshiski moved to 16-4 in the circle with the win, surrendering just four hits and striking out four.
