Australian band Voyager just finished in the top 10 of Eurovision and lead singer Danny Estrin has three sensational picks for visiting WA.
But their Eurovision success has exposed a whole new audience to the wonders of WA. We chat to lead singer, Danny Estrin, about the incredible spots they filmed at.
“We shot the film clip for our Eurovision song, Promise, in WA’s Mid West. We put a drum kit on a weird and wonderful pink lake called Hutt Lagoon. The colour comes from salt crystals stained with beta carotene and it feels like you’re walking on Mars,” says Estrin.
It wasn’t the only part of the state that shared top billing with the musos. “We got up at 4am to shoot a guitar and keytar solo at sunrise in Nature’s Window, a rock formation inside Kalbarri National Park. It’s about the colours, the vastness and you feel so at one with nature. Don’t miss the Skywalk that juts 25m out over a 100m drop. It’s mind blowing to see the majesty of nature from a manmade structure, itself an engineering feat. I’d recommend staying three days.”
We also flew to the Abrolhos Islands. I’ve never seen water so clear, a lagoon so beautiful, sand so white. Cessna flights aren’t that expensive, the beach is phenomenal, and sometimes you get to see seals! Because visitors can’t stay overnight – unless you’re on a cruise – it’s absolutely untouched.
