The latest pub to benefit from Australian Venue Co’s ongoing major investment in Queensland is the Metropolitan Hotel in Mackay, which has reopened after a $1.6 million renovation and positioning as the city’s new social and entertainment hub.
The makeover revitalised the pub’s beer garden, entertainment and bistro spaces, looking to make it both the home of live music and the ultimate celebration destination for Mackay residents.
Live music is to feature heavily on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, showcasing local and touring acts via live acoustics in the beer garden and a new portable stage in the bistro.
Works also included the function space, offering free room hire for private celebrations and events.
And the refreshed bistro sports a new look and expanded menu, featuring classics, share options and grazing boards.
As a pub in the Australian Venue Co stable, the Metropolitan will play its part in the Local Heroes charity fundraising initiative by raising funds for the PA Foundation’s MANDATE Program, championing prostate cancer research, by donating a dollar from the sale of every Parmi on Wednesdays.
“We’re proud that we have invested in The Metropolitan,” states Craig Ellison, AVC COO.
“We’ve given the pub the modern face-lift it deserved and we know that Mackay locals are going to love it.”
AVC has been investing heavily in revitalising the Queensland pub landscape through its venues. Recently completed renovations include Dunwoody’s in Cairns, Coomera Lodge Hotel on the Gold Coast and mostly recently the Gladstone Club Hotel in Gladstone, in April.
