All grandparents and their fans are invited to take part in the famous Grannies’ Walk, set to start and finish at St Michaels beach on Wednesday, July 5, starting at 08:00.
It’s the 37th such walk, now organised by the Rotary Club of Hibiscus Coast. For many Golden Oldies, this popular event is something to look forward to.
It’s a day out in the sunshine, an opportunity to mingle with friends, get a bit of exercise and round it off with a delicious breakfast.
The route is undemanding, along the beautiful coastline, from St Michaels beach towards Uvongo and back.
There are no age limits, the more the merrier. Bring the family, the neighbours or your dog, the entry fee is only R100 per person.
The Hibiscus Coast Rotarians invite businesses and the public to sponsor one or more senior participants.
To quote Past President Brian Blumrick: “Seniors and their family members need to encourage more social interaction, even if they have limited mobility and can’t enjoy the same events and friendships they once did.”
Help make this day possible. Phone Brian on 082 8290059 for more information and submit names to Brenda Blumrick on 082 5618461.
Rotary Club of Hibiscus Coast is based in Uvongo but serves communities in and around the Hibiscus area. Funds raised by this event will go towards the breakfast for the senior citizens who participate.
Any surplus will go into community projects like skills development, early child development, and educational and environmental initiatives. All projects are well-researched and sustainable.
