Police say a drug detection dog helped uncover a quantity of meth, a large sum of money and gel blaster pistols during a search at a home in Mount Isa.
Drugs such as ice and MDMA continue to inflict enormous damage on Australian society and the situation isn’t improving.
Mount Isa Police charged a 39-year-old man with multiple drug possession offences after they executed a search warrant at an address in Sunset on Thursday.
Senior Sergeant Adrian Rieck said it was alleged that police located a quantity of methamphetamine, a large sum of money, gel blaster pistols and other items that are suspected to be proceeds of crime.
He said drug detection dog PD Hope and handler Senior Constable Joel Davidson played a vital role in the success of the operation.
“Police from Mount Isa will continue to act on intelligence in regards to the distribution of dangerous drugs in our community,” Sergeant Rieck said.

“This crime has a flow-on effect into rates of domestic and family violence, theft, interpersonal violence and the health and well being of members of the community.
“The police thank the members of the Mount Isa community in helping us keep the community safe.”
A 39-year-old Sunset man was arrested and charged with five counts of possessing dangerous drugs and two counts of possessing items that are proceeds of crime.
He is set to appear in the Mount Isa Magistrates Court on June 23.
