A “unique” Surrey polo club in a “peaceful and tranquil setting” has been put up for sale with a price tag of £4 million. Hurtwood Park Polo Club, on Horsham Road, near Ewhurst, has operated as a polo estate for more than 25 years and has been used as a venue for weddings and parties, as well as outdoor concerts. King Charles and princes William and Harry are among those to have played at the club.
The property was previously advertised in January when rock legend owner Kenny Jones of The Who and The Faces listed it at £5 million. This was after the site was previously threatened to be sold following opposition to plans for development that could have seen new homes, a hotel, and stables.
Estate agent Clarke Gammon described the 180-acre site in “glorious Surrey countryside” as having “immense potential” and as a “unique opportunity”. The property description detailed: “There are possible long-term planning opportunities on some of the land.”

It added: “Various planning briefs have been obtained by the current owners and residential planning permission is not considered to be a likely prospect. A hotel could be an option but interested parties would need to make their own enquiries with the local authority. We understand the Local Plan Review is in 2024.”
The Hurtwood Polo Club estate has a stunning 3,000-square-foot period clubhouse and barn, which could make a beautiful house. The building is said to have originally been built in Sussex but was moved and re-erected at its current location in the early 2000s.
There are four operating polo fields across the 180 acres of land, which also has stables and is believed to be well-fenced. The site is currently consented as a polo and equestrian centre as well as a commercial venue.
