HORSHAM — Hatboro-Horsham High School’s Mini-THON set the school record in raising $35,070.32. The money is donated to financially support pediatric cancer patients and their families and help fund pediatric cancer research.
For a full calendar year, high school students raise money and it culminates with a Mini-THON event. Mini-THON is part of the greater THON fundraising effort, the largest student-run philanthropy, headed by Penn State and Four Diamonds.
The dance marathon was held on April 22 from 1 to 9 p.m. in the high school’s main gym and auxiliary gym. The event featured hourly line dancing, games including Human Hungry-Hungry Hippos, competitions, a luminary walk and more.
After hours of fun, the grand total was revealed at the end of the event. The total raised, $35,070.32, beating the high school’s previous school record by $9,000, set in 2019.
The funds are used to drive the discovery of new and improved treatments for childhood cancer by supporting the work of researchers at Penn State Children’s Hospital, Penn State College of Medicine and Philadelphia Children’s Hospitals. Four Diamonds also supports families by covering all medical expenses not paid for by insurance for every eligible child.
