Two trial NSW TrainLink coach routes servicing Broken Hill are to become permanent services following positive customer feedback and high patronage.
The coach links between Broken Hill and Adelaide, and between Broken Hill and Mildura have been running since June 2019, each as a twice weekly service.
Transport for NSW Chief Operating Officer for Customer Experience Rob Chaseling said patronage on these services has been strong, indicating how much the community values the transport links.
“Over the past four years, the connections provided by these trial coach services have been vital for our customers and the wider community,” Mr Chaseling said.
“We are pleased these two services will continue in an ongoing basis from July, ensuring Broken Hill and other rural and remote communities have public transport connections to major service centres.
“Making these coach services permanent has a range of benefits such as supporting and enhancing tourism, creating new economic opportunities and improving access to education, health care and other transport modes.”
The decision to retain the coach services was based on factors including patronage and wider social benefit.
The Broken Hill to Adelaide service operates on Mondays and Fridays and returns the following day.
The Broken Hill to Mildura service operates on Wednesdays and Fridays and returns on the same day.
