Edward Lloyd Storm, 99, of Vestal, entered into the fullness of God, on Monday, June 19, 2023. Edward was born in Endicott to the late Lloyd Storm and Elizabeth Schooley Storm. He was predeceased by sisters; Delores Parrett and Dawn Musa.
He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Joyce Keiper Storm, his children; Kurt Danga-Storm and wife Dagny, of Bethlehem, PA, Julie White and husband Steven of Shillington, PA, and Michael Bob Storm of Endicott, NY. He has four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Upon graduation in 1942 from U-E High School where he participated on the golf team, he began work for IBM in Endicott. Soon thereafter came the war, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He became a waist gunner on a B-24 Liberator. He was stationed in Horsham- St. Faith, England.
On his 6th mission his aircraft was shot down, he was subsequently captured and became a POW for 14 months. Upon liberation and the end of the war, he returned home and took up his position at IBM where he worked for 42 years.
Edward was dedicated to his family, his church and his country, he was especially generous with numerous veteran groups. Edward was passionate, lifelong sports fan. He loved Syracuse basketball and football, would play golf into his late 80’s, ran several Vestal 20k’s and parachuted out of a plane at the age of 88. Of that adventure he commented, “that one was easy, no one was shooting at me this time.” In addition he was supportive and encouraging to his children and grandchildren in their athletic and life endeavors. He saved his deepest gratitude for the selfless and constant love of his wife Joyce.
He believed his Lord had abundantly blessed him with long life, rich memories, and the promise of life eternal. The Storm family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the NY State Veterans Home in Oxford and the staff of Lourdes Hospice. A memorial service will be held at the Grace Point Church, 3701 Vestal Rd. Vestal, NY on Friday at 1 p.m. with Military Honors to follow. The family will receive friends on Friday at the church from 12 noon until the time of the service.
