Channel 10 has announced that for the first time in The Bachelor’s history, the reality show will be filmed in Melbourne for the upcoming eleventh season.
The network announced on Sunday that the series will relocate from the Gold Coast to Victoria’s capital, with filming expected to take place across six weeks between July and August.
Returning host Osher Günsberg said in a statement: “The secret with longevity in any relationship is to never take the other person for granted, and always be ready to re-invent the relationship as your needs change over time.
“The relationship between The Bachelor franchise and our audience is no different, and taking this love story to Melbourne builds on the world-first season we have just seen, allowing us to take Australia’s most romantic dating show to places it has never been before.”

The first nine seasons of The Bachelor were filmed in Sydney, starting at a six-bedroom mansion in Bayview before moving to a larger property in Oxford Falls and later a country estate in Dural.
However, the show relocated to a $14.5 million mansion on the Gold Coast for its milestone tenth season, which delivered the lowest ratings in the history of the franchise earlier this year.
Casting call reveals huge shake-up
Although the latest casting call still refers to the reality show as The Bachelors, The Herald Sun reports that season eleven will only focus on one suitor rather than three.
Producers have also raised the age limit for applications from 40 to 50, suggesting they’re looking to cast older participants.
This news will likely delight fans, who often complain the dating show prioritises young people looking for Instagram fame and drama rather than settling down and falling in love.
Before Matty Johnson’s season in 2017, producers previously had a cut-off age of 35.
