A six-year-old mare who once promised so much is set to break a near 18-month winning drought at Tuesday’s Nowra meeting.
Temoin Chaud, a still lightly raced daughter of Star Witness, hasn’t won since claiming a Benchmark 66 in the Riverina late in 2021.
Since then, it’s been several false dawns across southern NSW and up down the South Coast searching for that elusive sixth career win.
Based now at Queanbeyan with Nick Olive, Temoin Chaud lines up in an average Benchmark 58 Hcp over 1400m.
From a sound draw, and coming through generally superior form lines than her opposition, she won’t get a better chance to return to the winner’s stall.
Temoin Chaud tackled the much stronger Queen Of The South three starts back over the Wagga carnival before running home well to miss narrowly in a better quality BM 58 at Dubbo.
She then disappointed as an each-way chance in similar company at the Sapphire Coast, but this is the weakest race she’s faced in some time.
Only one local galloper lines up, with the field virtually cornered by Goulburn, Queanbeyan and Canberra visitors.
It was more than three years ago when the then three-year-old announced herself by charging home to win her maiden at Orange in only her second start.
