At Bicycle Network, we are so lucky to have an incredible team of volunteers who make an extraordinary contribution across many areas of our organisation – from events to super counts, serving on our board to leading social rides and helping at our office and workshop.
National Volunteer Week is our chance to say thanks for the incredible work they do and for the joy and happiness they spread to bike riders across the country!
We asked a few of our most loyal and dedicated volunteers to share with us what they enjoy the most about volunteering.
Marion Leeke | Women’s Community Ride Leader & Events Volunteer
“It has been such a rewarding and fun time, to have this opportunity to enhance the experience of others and make a difference – a fabulous chance to give back to society. I love meeting people, sharing stories, making connections, all while feeling a sense of belonging to a like-minded community”.
Reshween Jagjit Singh | Events Volunteer
“What I enjoy most about volunteering is the sense of community among volunteers because we’re all there for the same reasons, and it’s always a good time! There’s also the opportunity to develop new skills, learn a thing or two and gain valuable experience. I get to have fun, meet awesome people and contribute to something!”
Dario Scarton | Workshop & Events Volunteer
“Volunteering at the Bicycle Network workshop in Sunshine North is great because I get to interact with people who are incredibly knowledgeable and experienced in delivering top standard events for bike riders. I also love the comradery of the workshop team.”
Di Elliffe | Bicycle Network Tasmania Committee / Social Rides Leader
“Leading Social Rides and sharing useful ride maps such as our Ambassador Routes is a great way to help others to enjoy riding more and to show them how to do it more often. Volunteering with Bicycle Network helps me to achieve my personal mission and I really enjoy working with likeminded people to achieve things that an individual can’t do on their own.”
Steve Roberts | Super Counts Volunteer
“It is a joy to see so many happy, smiling cyclists – all of them – and the street infrastructure has improved a lot.”
