Conor McGregor has posted on social media for the first time since he was accused of raping a woman in Miami.
A woman has alleged McGregor sexually assaulted her in a toilet after the Irishman appeared at the Miami Heat’s clash against the Denver Nuggets in Game 4 of the NBA Finals (June 9).
The Miami Police Department has said it has been investigating the claims since Sunday, with demand letters issued to McGregor, the Miami Heat and the NBA by representatives of the unnamed woman in question.
The mixed martial artist has yet to personally address the matter in public, though his lawyers have said the Dublin native ‘welcomes the investigation’. His team have vehemently denied the claims and said: “This is no more than a shakedown.”

‘The Notorious’ is back in the social sphere after wishing his father a happy birthday via Instagram. McGregor uploaded two pictures of his pa – one driving a golf ball into the ocean and another toting a gun in full hunting gear – and wrote: “Happy birthday Tony Mac.”
It’s not unusual for the former dual-weight world champion to wish his parents well on their birthdays, having routinely shown them love online in the past. McGregor Sr. even wished himself a happy birthday online, posting a snap of himself and Conor arm-in-arm with the caption: “Proper yachtsmen.”
Even old UFC rival Jose Aldo showed appreciation for the post and replied with a string of clapping emojis, proof any tensions from their days as opponents are a thing of the past.
McGregor caused a stir at the NBA Finals when he made a cameo on court and performed a short skit with the Heat mascot, Burnie. The southpaw got carried away with the bit, however, and accidentally hospitalised his costumed co-star with a vicious left hook.
The professional fighter later said he’d visited Burnie in hospital and made amends for his error in judgement. However, there’s no confirmation as to whether the mascot has forgiven him just yet.
Accusations of sexual assault came around the same time that McGregor confirmed he and long-term partner Dee Devlin are expecting their fourth child together. The king of combat already shares two sons and a daughter with Devlin, whom he started dating in 2008.
As for his cage career, it’s uncertain as to whether McGregor will be able to fulfil his pledge of facing Michael Chandler before the end of 2023. The Notorious is coaching opposite Chandler in the latest season of The Ultimate Fighter, but there’s no confirmation he’s returned to USADA’s drug-testing pool in time to be eligible for this year.
