FC Barcelona are yet to make any noticeable move in the transfer market. That is mainly because of the fact that the club are not in a position to register too many players, including Inigo Martinez, who has agreed to join the Blaugrana on a free transfer.
The club are actively working on a plan to bring in fresh funds and reduce the salary mass of the squad which could help the team register new players. Their main source of revenue could be the sale of some of the unwanted stars in the team.
But Barcelona have other potential avenues as well, such as the potential sale of former defender Jean-Clair Todibo.
The centre-back, who played for Barcelona between 2019 to 2021, is not associated with the team in any fashion. However, when the Blaugrana sold the player to OGC Nice for €8.5 million in 2021, they retained a 20% sell-on clause.
As per Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are rubbing their hands at the prospect of Nice selling Todibo this summer, as they are likely to get a fraction of the pie. The report cites French publications which link the player with a move to Manchester United.
Italian giants such as Napoli and Juventus, along with German giants Borussia Dortmund are also interested in the services of the Nice centre-back.
With Todibo having a contract until 2027, NIce are not expected to offload the player on a cut-price deal. The report suggests the French club are looking for a fee of €45 million for the centre-back, which could see Barcelona rake in €9 million.
Although not as significant, the €9 million financial injection could still go a long way in helping Barcelona balance the books and target new players ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
