Dublin and Ballymun Kickhams football stars Dean Rock, James McCarthy, John Small, Paddy Small and Evan Comerford joined the Ballymun Kickhams All Stars team to celebrate their achievement over the past year.
The Ballymun Kickhams All Stars team was set up in response to the GAA for All, inclusive club programme. This very special initiative is for children with special needs aged 8yrs -13yrs, it aims to include children that are unable to participate in a typical team in a fun and safe environment.
The team was set up 18 months ago and during that time the players have been working hard to learn ball skills, exercise together and of course they have been having lots of fun along the way. To celebrate their achievements the Kickhams and Dublin stars were on hand to present them with their awards before sending the team and their families off for a day trip to Emerald Park to continue the celebrations.
Chairperson of Ballymun Kickhams Louise Kearns said “We are so proud of this team and all that they have achieved in the time that they have been training together. I would particularly like to thank the families of the players and the coaches involved, their commitment and guidance has been invaluable in helping us to establish this team. We would love to welcome new members to join the team and look forward to what the future holds for our All Stars.”
Ballymun Kickhams and Dublin player John Small was on hand to help present the awards, he said “Initiatives like the GAA All Star inclusive programme really demonstrate the value that sports organisations can bring to communities. We are so proud of all that our All Star club members have achieved this year and I look forward to seeing this team go from strength to strength.”
