That’s the message Scott Vesty wants to spread with his newly founded association, Around Mates.
After struggling with his own mental health issues for a number of years, and going through the process of learning and healing from his experiences, Scott decided to start Around Mates.
Founded just five weeks ago, Around Mates aims to show support for people of all ages who are going through tough times.
“Whether you are struggling with your mental health, are new to the area and want to make some new mates or simply struggle to find the time, that’s what Around Mates is for,” Scott said.
To commemorate the start of Around Mates, people are welcomed to join Scott and some mates for a free barbecue at 12pm, this Sunday in the Waring Gardens.
“Come down for a snag or a cold drink and make some new mates and talk about anything, everything or nothing,” he said.
“These catch ups are about knowing that you are not alone and that you have mates around you who can help.”
This will be the first of 28 catch ups hosted by Around Mates, as Scott plans to travel around the local areas in both New South Wales and Victoria.
From July 2 to December 17, Around Mates will host a catch up barbecue every Sunday in a new town.
Catch ups will be held in Jerilierie, Nagambie, Yarrawonga, Bendigo, Euroa, Wangaratta, Swan Hill, Benalla, Cobram and Barooga, Howlong, Bright, Tatura, Tocumwal, Mathoura, Echuca -Moama, Coleambally, Barham, Shepparton, Rochester, Leeton, Corowa, Numurkah, Hay, Myrtleford and Rushworth.
