About the opportunity
Southern Cross University’s Faculty of Health provides an exciting and innovative learning environment working with individuals, families and communities to meet their health needs and requirements.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate Professor or Professor of Speech Pathology to continue to grow our speech pathology program. You will play a key role in the design and delivery of the program and contribute to research and engagement activities that continue to develop the Faculty’s profile.
Core responsibilities will include:
- Drive the enhancement of teaching and learning and educational design and delivery in keeping with University policy, procedure and guidelines, including undertaking activities and supporting the activities of colleagues.
- Lead and develop innovative curriculum and teaching activities in accordance with accreditation requirements.
- Make a substantial contribution to the discipline and Faculty research profile through publications in high quality journals and successful applications for grant funding.
- Form collaborations and networks with other researchers nationally and internationally, enhancing the Faculty’s reputation for interdisciplinarity and collaborative research.
- Undertake relevant community and professional engagement that supports and enhances the University and Faculty’s profile and priorities.
About you
The successful candidate will have a PHD, a strong track record in research and demonstrated knowledge, and skills in teaching and curriculum development.
As an innovative, progressive and collaborative leader, you will bring a demonstrated ability to network effectively and ensure that working relationships are improved both internally and with government, industry and community stakeholders.
More specifically, you will have:
- A PhD in Speech Pathology and significant academic and clinical experience. Registration, or eligible to obtain registration, as a Speech Pathologist with Speech Pathology Australia.
- Outstanding commitment to education and training through demonstrated leadership in guiding the development of others and managing teams through intellectual leadership.
- Substantial experience in teaching both clinical and theoretical topics in Speech Pathology and knowledge in the use of contemporary educational technologies in blended and online environments across a range of practice settings and populations.
- Evidence of an established relevant national and international research and/or scholarship reputation as evidenced by publications, success in attracting competitive grants and supervision of PhD students.
- Demonstrated success leading accreditation processes, quality course development and a strong track record of teaching excellence.
- Leadership in research grants, industry projects, collaborations, and/or supervision of honours/higher degree research candidates.

This a continuing position based at either our Gold Coast or Coffs Harbour campus. Generous relocation support is available.
The successful candidate can negotiate a part-time or full-time appointment.
The level of appointment will be made at Associate Professor (Level D) or Professor (Level E) commensurate with the qualifications, skills and experience of the successful candidate.
The base salary for Academic Level D ranges from $148,746 – $163,655 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $191,476 per annum.
The base salary for Academic Level E is $190,982 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $223,448 per annum.
