What added to the ‘wow’ was seeing locals going for a morning swim and coffee, in the middle of winter, while the sand was still burning cold on your feet.
“POV you’ve travelled for two days and it’s your first morning in Australia,” Kira, a 25 year old marketing professional from London, captioned the video.

“You wake up at 4am from jetlag, catch a bus to Bondi beach and watch sunrise with the best coffee you’ve ever tasted, sip on ice cold water and get to observe the locals going for pre work swims – a surreal concept from the busy streets of London.”
In the comment section Kira added that even though she knows this is not how everyone in Sydney works, “It would be if I lived here.”
“There’s just no similarity in London. It’s just get up, go to work, come home from work and that’s your day done.”
She also added: “The coffee in Aus is 10x better than anything in the UK.”
The video has now been viewed over 394,000 times, and TikTok users have left hundreds of comments on it. Some comments came from locals who needed the fresh perspective (“seeing beautiful posts like this makes me realise how lucky I am to have been born here and this is my reality”).
Others expressed their desire to move to Australia and magically become “a 5am girl,” with Kira being far from the first person to point out Bondi’s early morning culture on TikTok.

Yet other comments came from people encouraging Kira to realise this is not how all Sydneysiders start their days. “Need to check out the sunrise and beaches at Mt Druitt sometime,” one user wrote.
Many more came from beach-pining tourists who also want to make the Big Switch. One wrote: “Australia reminds me of what a better life is for this entire universe and I hope one day each and everyone gets a taste of it.”
No pressure guys, no pressure.
