The 2023 Southwire Portland E-Prix marks the inaugural ABB FIA Formula E World Championship race in Portland and the series’ only stop in the U.S. this season. Portland becomes just the fourth U.S. city along with Long Beach, Calif.; Miami and New York to host a Formula E race since the inception of the series in 2014. Formula E is the world’s most advanced all-electric motorsport race series, consisting of 16 rounds of racing in 11 iconic cities including Berlin, London, Rome, Monaco, Cape Town, Hyderabad and São Paulo. The 2023 Southwire Portland E-Prix at Portland International Raceway is Round 12 of the Season 9 championship and will feature the U.S. debut of the new Gen3 – the lightest, fastest, most powerful and efficient electric race car in the world, capable of speeds exceeding 200 mph. The single-day event on Saturday, June 24 includes a morning practice session followed by qualifying and the race.

The 2023 Portland E-Prix marks the U.S. debut of the new Gen3 – the lightest, fastest, most powerful and efficient electric race car in the world.
Gen3 Performance Metrics:
-Fastest Formula E car yet with a top speed over 322 kph / 200 mph.
-Most efficient formula racing car ever with more than 40% of the energy used within a race produced by regenerative braking.
-Around 95% power efficiency from an electric motor delivering up to 350kW of power (470BHP), compared to approximately 40% for an internal combustion engine.
-First-ever formula car with both front and rear powertrains. A new front powertrain adds 250kW to the 350kW at the rear, more than doubling the regenerative capability of the current Gen2 to a total of 600kW.
-Ultra-high speed charging capability of 600kW for additional energy during a race, almost double the power of the most advanced commercial chargers in the world.
-The first formula car that will not feature rear hydraulic brakes with the addition of the front powertrain and its regenerative capability.
