The Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC) has launched a ‘Micro-Credentialing’ Program to provide tourism businesses with access to short online courses on the ‘Typsy’ platform.
QTIC said the bite-sized video courses help operators retain staff and fill critical skill gaps in as little as 40 minutes.
According to their latest newsletter, the courses are tailored specifically for the tourism industry and businesses can assign specific training to their staff to build a strong culture of learning and development and reduce staff turnover.
Once staff have watched all the lessons in a course and answered a short quiz, they’ll earn a micro-credential, or digital ‘badge’.
QTIC said it is an opportunity to provide tourism businesses with industry-specific training tools to reskill, retain and onboard your workforce.
The courses are delivered online through the ‘Typsy’ platform and include several bite-size video lessons (3-5 mins each) featuring industry experts.
Registered businesses can currently access these three QTIC courses; Customer Service – Tourism and Travel; Introduction to entrepreneurship and Tourism and hospitality, trade, and distribution channels.
The micro-credential courses are tailored for each of Queensland’s thirteen diverse tourism regions.
Registered tourism businesses currently have access to a wide range of courses, such as:
Effective communication essentials
Sustainability 101
Guest experience fundamentals
Rostering management
Kitchen leadership for executive chefs
WHS – Slips, trips & falls
Diversity, equity, and inclusion
Micro, small, and medium businesses across all sectors of the tourism industry are encouraged to participate.
