About the presenters
Rebecca Dallwitz holds an MA (Cultural Materials Conservation) with a specialisation in objects conservation and has a background in anthropology. Dallwitz has worked for major cultural institutions nationally, contributing to or leading major projects for built heritage, large objects and the extension of the National Gallery of Australia, collection moves, permanent exhibition demounts and installations, many temporary and touring exhibitions, outreach and education programs. She additionally managed Lithgow City Council’s regional museum and cultural outreach program, before accepting the role of Community History Leader at Lake Macquarie City Council. She manages the local studies unit, completes community outreach and curates exhibitions for Lake Mac.
Deborah Waddell is trained as a librarian and archivist. She has worked for the National Trust, Powerhouse Museum and Lake Mac Council in the field of physical and intellectual collections management. From a physical perspective, she makes sure all objects are cleaned, maintained and stored correctly in appropriate conditions. Whilst intellectually, so the collection can be utilised effectively by everyone, she ensures objects are digitised and catalogued according to current standards and best practices.
