Philip Barbour’s Alfred Isch has been selected to the Class AA all-state second team for the second straight season.
CHARLESTON — Philip Barbour’s Alfred Isch has earned Class AA all-state second-team honors for the second straight year.
Isch was selected as the second-team catcher on the squad released today by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association.
Elkins High School’s Cameron Biller is listed as honorable mention.
Both Isch and Biller will continue their baseball careers in the Mountain Eat Conference at the University of Charleston and Davis & Elkins College, respectively.
Shady Spring junior outfielder Jake Meadows was named captain of the first team.
Joining Meadows on the first team was teammate Cam Manns, Shady’s ace and a two-time first-team all-state pick.
Joining Manns as all-state first-team pitchers were seniors Griffin Miller of Scott and Jacob Topping of Chapmanville.
First-team catchers were Logan senior Jake Ramey — a repeat first-team selection — and Keyser junior Logan Rotruck.
The four first-team infielders are seniors and returning first-team selections — Dawson Maynard and Garrett Williamson of Logan, Nick George of Robert C. Byrd and Gunner Riley of Fairmont Senior.
Meadows is joined in the outfield by Trey Butcher of Chapmanville.
The four utility spots were filled by seniors Brody Dalton of Chapmanville, Cole Malnick of North Marion, Dylan Kuhl of Winfield and junior Noah Broadwater of Keyser.
The captain of the second team was Wyoming East’s Jacob Howard, who was a first team selection in 2022.
Wooden plaques in the shape of West Virginia that include the high school name, player’s name, licensed WVSWA logo, and year of the honoree, are available to all-state first team, second team, and honorable mentions and can be purchased from the Bear Wood Company through WVSWA.org orBearwoodcompany.com.
