The Huon Valley Council has announced a major refurbishment project that will result in the Port Huon pool’s closure for ‘at least two months’.
Council say the project aims to enhance the facility’s durability, bring down maintenance requirements and extend the pool’s lifespan.
The anticipated re-lining works on the pool are scheduled to commence in August, and are expected to last for two to three months.
During this period, the pool will remain closed to the public.
However, council say other amenities in the Port Huon Sports Centre, including the gym and playing courts, will remain open for community use.
While Mayor Sally Doyle acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the temporary closure, she emphasized the importance of the enhancements to meet the needs of the community in the long run.
“We understand the temporary pool closure will be disappointing for some and an inconvenience,” said Mayor Sally Doyle. “But we look forward to the enhancement of this important community facility, to better meet the needs of the future”.
